When Charlotte area master business coach/speaker/trainer Dave Ferguson stresses the importance of growth and change with his clients, he’s not just recycling concepts he’s heard about or read in a book. He’s speaking from life experience. Ferguson, known as “Coach Dave” to his network of clients, colleagues, and friends, is a certified founding partner in an exclusive coaching team assembled by internationally recognized leadership expert, speaker, and author John C. Drawing upon over 25 years of senior level success in business development, strategic business planning, profit and loss management, sales and customer service training, compliance, and acquisitions, Coach Dave now spends his days putting his expertise to good use helping others grow and succeed in their business and personal lives.
But if you really want to know where the burning desire Coach Dave has for continuous self-improvement first took root, you’d have to go back to his childhood. Growing up as one of six children on Long Island, N.Y., he started in “business” when he was 8-years old, selling lemonade, operating paper routes, and doing whatever else he could do to bring in money to have the things he wanted.
Raised by his Grandmother, Dave’s model of the world quickly became self-reliance. He set a goal at a young age that he was going to become financially independent, and that goal was realized before he was 30.
Coach Dave has studied the methods of some of the world’s most successful personal development gurus, including John Maxwell and Anthony Robbins. “I have learned a lot from Anthony Robbins about overcoming fears and finding deeper levels of potential within you. I even did his fire walk, and I have the hot coal keychain to prove it,” Coach Dave says with a grin. “The only way to improve yourself is to learn from others, and men like Tony Robbins and John Maxwell are masters of their craft. They motivate and inspire you to keep reaching higher and higher and to always look for new levels within yourself. When you stop learning you stop growing, and you limit your potential for success. I’ve always tried to make sure that I keep learning and growing, so I can keep finding better and better ways to help my clients do the same.”
If you ask Coach Dave what single skill has allowed him to achieve his goals and dreams, he simply says one word – leadership. Dave understands that leadership is more than an idea or a concept. It’s a mindset that drives our actions in every facet of our personal and professional lives.
“Over the years I have learned through my unique experiences in life that leadership is how we grow organizations and impact lives. I have owned small businesses, and I have worked in the corporate world. In both situations, leadership was absolutely the difference-maker. I am blessed to be able to utilize my God-given talents to coach and teach other coaches and clients how to become more effective leaders and reach their professional and personal goals.”
Coach Dave founded Synergy Growth Services in Mooresville, N.C. to coach and mentor other business owners, and to bring together other specialists and coaches from across the business landscape in an atmosphere of collective ideas and strategies for the empowerment of those whom the group serves.
“I started Synergy because I wanted to be able to collaborate with other coaches to help me reach more people who are looking to take their business and personal lives to the next level, and need help finding their way,” Ferguson said. “Now we are excited to add John Maxwell’s life-changing workshops and instructional programs to our extensive menu of services. We now have an affordable growth opportunity for everyone, from the entrepreneur to the small business owner and the senior-level executive. I am living my dream, and our goal is to work with others to show them how to live theirs too!”
